He was dressed in Turkish clothing. “Grownups are like that," commented the pilot, who was echoing something the Little Prince might himself have said. When the astronomer returned again dressed as a European, the asteroid was admitted into the records. Much of the book explores the differences between what grownups accept as reality over the much less judgmental things that children do.
